Born in Arizona and raised in South Phoenix. Her interest in art was inspired at a very young age and she is a self-taught artist. Mary Ann began her career as an artist in 2007; her passion and inspiration for art has come from her Mexican culture and the religious images she saw while growing up. Coming from a large close-knit family has taught her the true value and appreciation of the Mexican families’ way of life. She loved the large, boisterous, colorful family gatherings and Mexican festivities that she experienced while growing up. All of this has had a great impact on her artwork.
When she paints Mary Ann looks at the true beauty of the object she is painting and she loves using vibrant colors in all of her paintings. This inspiration comes from her heart and soul, what she feels inside, and you are able to see her feelings through her work. Mary Ann feels that her art has enabled her to expand who she is. Through her painting and religious art she hopes others will be able to visualize and feel what she seen and experienced while growing up in the Southwest.
